Join our Chollas Creek and Otay River Water Quality Sampling Day, where volunteers will join our team to gather water samples and collect data at two (2) sites within the Chollas Lake community and two (2) sites in the Otay River. The sampling time frame is from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM. Depending on other factors outside our control, sampling can potentially end later than 1:30 PM, but usually no later than 2:00 PM.
Volunteers will collect water samples and use different scientific instruments to gather data. Please bring a reusable water bottle, sun protection, hiking shoes (or closed-toed), and long pants. You might also want to bring hiking/athletic and water-resistant clothing.
You will be joined by our Community Science Director, Laura Fuller, and Camila Ruiz, our Community Science Coordinator. You will ride with our team in the Coastkeeper van to the sampling sites and back to the meeting location.
The first two (2) volunteers who sign up and show up will be eligible to receive a $60 stipend given as a virtual Visa gift card the following week. Let me know if you'd like to decline and offer it to the next person. Stipends are limited to one per person per month to make them accessible to other people as well. I appreciate your understanding.
